Many things have changed since hobex was founded in 1991. But one thing has remained the same: our commitment to our customers!

As a young team we made sure right from the start that our reactions to customer requests are characterised by commitment, creativity and flexibility - and we are always eager to face new challenges. A constant in times of permanent change: our active search for innovations and improvements for our customers!

hobex was founded as a subsidiary of the hogast (purchasing co-operative for gastronomy and the hotel trade) with the aim of providing a cost-effective, simple and fast payment processing system as a "discount" payment service provider for every hogast member company.

Success has encouraged us to offer our service to a more universal clientele. Subsequent rapid growth has made it necessary to place ownership on a broader basis by transforming the company into a public limited company. Today, 90% of hobex AG is owned by Austrian banks whilst the hogast purchasing co-operative holds the remaining 10%.

We currently maintain around 17,000 customer terminals in tourism, commerce and service and process more than 12 million transactions every year. Our team is made up of 78 employees.
